Locked Estimates, Status, and Supplement Requests
After you send an estimate, the insurance company can review the estimate and set a status. A lock symbol appears in the right corner of the Estimate card. The lock indicates the ownership of the estimate is held with the insurance company. Supplements cannot be created when the lock is present.
When the ownership lock is released, the lock symbol is no longer visible, and you can add a supplement.
The estimate is unlocked when the insurance company changes the status to Approved
Notes: Locked estimates only apply to certain workflows (e.g. Cross Supplementation). Review the workflow guide from your insurance company partners for procedures.
How to
Note: This feature is not available to all Mitchell Connect users.
Use the Send Request to Unlock Estimate feature to send a request to the insurance company to unlock a locked estimate. This feature is only available if Request Unlock displays on an estimate card.
- On the Job Overview page, click Request Unlock on the Estimate card. The Request Unlock window appears.
- Type a reason to unlock the estimate in the Request Unlock window (optional), and then click Request Unlock. The request is sent to the insurance company. Request Unlock appears on the Estimate card.

Use the Request Supplement feature to request a supplement from the insurance company. This feature is only available if Request Supplement displays on the estimate card.

On the Job Overview page, click Request Supplement on the Estimate card. The Request Supplement window appears.
- Type a reason for the supplement request in the Request Supplement window (optional), and then click Request Supplement. These notes are passed to the insurance company. Request Supplement appears on the Estimate card.

Pending Review |
Sent to insurance but locked pending review by the insurance company. A lock may appear on the Estimate card on the Job Overview page. Contact the insurance company to remove the lock. You can also send a message to the insurance company from the Messages tab to request to have an estimate unlocked.
