Edit Repair Lines
You can edit the repair lines you have added to the estimate in two ways. You can edit repair lines from the Estimate itself or edit Template items from Settings.
How to
- Click the Estimate icon to view the repair lines in the estimate, along with information about the related parts and operations.
- Select the repair line you want to edit. You can make changes to the following fields:
- Labor: Operation, Type, Units
- Part: Type, Number, Qty, Price, Tax
Note: If you change the Tax setting in the estimate, it will not change the tax settings in the Estimate Profile.
- If you are applying betterment to the repair line, select the Include Tax check box.
If PST tax is configured in the estimate profile, Canadian Mitchell Cloud Estimating users will see Include PST Tax check box instead of the Include Tax checkbox when adding child betterment lines (Labor, Part, or Labor & Part). When using HST tax, users see Include Tax.
These settings are viewed on the following places in Mitchell Cloud Estimating:

Do one of the following to if you want to apply a markup or a discount:

For a discount, enter a negative number in the Markup/Discount field (i.e., -30).

For a markup, enter a positive number in the Markup/Discount field (i.e., 30).
- To remove the Clear Coat or Two Tone designation from a repair line, deselect the Clear Coat or Two Tone check boxes.
Tip: You do not need to make a selection for the two stage paint section. All Mitchell paint times are based on a two stage base coat and clear coat process.
TruckMax Commercial Heavy and Medium Trucks: You can turn on or off Clear Coat at the global vehicle level check box instead of manually checking or deselecting each individual part on the estimate.
- After editing the repair lines as needed, click Done to save the change(s).
- The estimate total (dollar amount at top right) automatically updates each time a repair line is edited, added, or deleted.
Follow the steps to edit repair line categories and part options from the Estimate Editor.

In Mitchell Cloud Estimating, click the Estimate tab. The Estimate Editor opens.

Select the desired repair line that has two or more categories and/or part option associations (i.e., R&R Quarter Panel Assy with R Blind Spot Detection) that you wish to update. The Labor and Part information expands for the line item and becomes editable.

Select the icon next to the Labor Operation. The Sub-Category and Part Option lists open.

Choose the desired Sub-Category and/or Part Option from the lists.

Click Apply Changes after it becomes active to save the new configurations.
If Auto-Substitution is active, it starts once Apply Changes is selected as if the part were added from the Parts tab.
Once the estimate is saved, a confirmation message appears at the top of the Estimate Editor informing you the Lines have been updated. The repair line(s) shows the new sub-category and/or part option and, if needed, the estimate total is updated.
Note: If the repair line part has no sub-categories and multiple part options, the drop-down won't be available. It is also unavailable for parts on different sides of the vehicle (i.e., swapping a R Front Door Shell with a L Front Door Shell) which must be deleted and added again from the Parts tab.
Follow the steps to configure a manual line within a repair line.

Log into Mitchell Connect.

Create or access a job and on the Estimate Tab, click Edit Lines.

Select the parent repair line checkbox where you want the manual line added.

Select + Manual Line at the bottom of the estimate. The Add Manual Line window opens.
Note: If more than one parent line is selected or one parent line and the child line of another parent is selected, the + Manual Line button will be grayed out.

On the Add Manual Line window, configure as desired and click Add Line.

The new manual line displays underneath the checked repair line(s).

Repeat the previous steps as desired.

Click Done at the bottom of the estimate.
The manual repair line placement and configuration are now saved.
Staff users can view Pre-Defined messages that you create separately from those created by profile managers in WorkCenter. Staff users can view Predefined Text Messages in Mitchell Cloud Estimating when adding and editing parts on an estimate.
Follow the steps to edit My Template lines in Mitchell Connect Settings.
- On the navigation pane in Mitchell Connect, click Settings.
- On the Estimating card, click Templates. The Your Templates page shows your templates.
- Click the template you want to edit.
- Select the category you want to edit from the list on the left. Click the three dots icon to rename or delete the category.
- Click the reference line or manual line you want to edit.
- Make the changes and click Done when you are finished.
- You can also click +Category, + Sub Category,+Mitchell Reference Line, or +Manual Line to add new elements in the template.
- When you are finished making changes to the template, click Done.
Mark label units or parts lines as Included, and add a zero dollar amount to those lines. Use this feature if the cost of a repair line is included elsewhere in the estimate. This feature improves estimate accuracy and mirrors a feature previously available in UltraMate.
- From an estimate, click Estimate in the navigation pane to view all repair lines.
- Click any repair line that includes price or labor units.
- Click a price or labor unit field.
- Type an I in the field and the value automatically changes to INC. The Price and/or Units are changed to zero and marked as INC for included.
Follow the steps below to move a manual or regular repair line either to or from the Primary Estimate to a Related or Unrelated Prior Damage Estimate as desired.
- Click the Estimate tab to open the estimate.

In the Estimate Editor, select the desired estimate type from the list (Primary or Related/Unrelated Prior Damage).

Open an existing estimate or create a new one and add your desired repair lines.

In the Estimate, select Edit Lines and select the desired lines to be moved.

Click the Move to button on the bottom toolbar and select between the Primary Estimate, Related Prior Damage, and Unrelated Prior Damage depending on which estimate type you are actively using. The Moving Estimate Line(s) window opens.

Confirm your selection by selecting Yes, Continue.

Repeat steps as necessary.
Once completed, a green confirmation dialogue displays confirming the move.
