Start Prior Damage Estimates

You can identify and designate the type of prior damage on the vehicle in Mitchell Connect before writing a prior damage estimate.

Note: You do not have to identify prior damage on the Vehicle page in Mitchell Connect before writing a prior damage estimate. You can write the prior damage estimate directly from the estimate editor.

1. From the Job Overview page, click the Vehicle card to access the vehicle information.
2. Scroll down to the Damage section.

   

3. In the Prior Damage field, type a description of the related or unrelated damage and the damage location on the vehicle.

   

1. In the Estimate Editor, click the estimate list and select Related Prior Damage or Unrelated Prior Damage.

   Note: The Unrelated Prior Damage option may be disabled if you are writing the estimate for an insurance company that does not support this estimate type.

   

2. In the new estimate page, add repair linesfor the prior damage.
3. Complete the estimate.

Note: You can write a prior damage estimate even if you did not identify the prior damage on the Vehicle page in Mitchell Connect.

Follow the steps below to move a manual or regular repair line either to or from the Primary Estimate to a Related or Unrelated Prior Damage Estimate as desired.

1. Click the Estimate tab to open the estimate.

2. In the Estimate Editor, select the desired estimate type from the list (Primary or Related/Unrelated Prior Damage).

3. Open an existing estimate or create a new one and add your desired repair lines.

4. In the Estimate, select Edit Lines and select the desired lines to be moved.

   

5. Click the Move to button on the bottom toolbar and select between the Primary Estimate, Related Prior Damage, and Unrelated Prior Damage depending on which estimate type you are actively using. The Moving Estimate Line(s) window opens.

6. Confirm your selection by selecting Yes, Continue.

7. Repeat steps as necessary.

Once completed, a green confirmation dialogue displays confirming the move.
