Configure Accounting System Settings
Configure your accounting settings to transfer sales information to your accounting software. You can select tax settings, enable split accounting, and map departments to accounts (also known as Profit Centers and Chart of Accounts).
Default profit center accounts are available in Mitchell Cloud Repair. During the mapping process, you can map the default accounts to your QuickBooks accounts.
QuickBooks online also includes a list of default accounts you can map to Mitchell Cloud Repair.
Note: Accounting transfers from Mitchell Cloud Repair are only available for QuickBooks Online. Cost information and cost profit centers are not available at this time.
Attention: Mapping Profit Centers creates permanent changes to your accounting software that are irreversible. If you are unsure of any part of the mapping process for setting up Profit Centers, please reach out to the Mitchell Collision Installation Team (CIT).
How to

In the navigation panel, click Settings.

Under Repair, click Accounting Settings.

On the Accounting page, click Connect to QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks opens in a new window.

Enter your user name and password and click Sign In.
A waring message appears on the Accounting page if you haven't accessed Accounting features in the last 100 days. Use the Accounting Preferences page to Re-authenticate your account:

In the navigation pane, click Settings.

Under Repair, click Accounting Settings.

Click Reconnect to QuickBooks Online.
If you do not want to include tax information in your accounting system, you can set Mitchell Cloud Repair to ignore tax settings.

In the navigation panel, click Settings.

Under Repair, click Accounting Settings.

On the Accounting page, click Ignore Tax Setup.

Click Update.
Use the Enable Split Accounting feature to split accounts receivable bills for each repair order between the customer's out-of-pocket and insurance company payments. Customer out-of-pocket may include deductible amounts and charges like unrelated prior damage not paid by the insurance company. The split appears in the invoices in your accounting system and on the Close Repair Orders report.
Use Profit Centers Configuration feature to map accounts from Mitchell Cloud Repair to accounts in your accounting system. Account information from your accounting system appears automatically in Mitchell Cloud Repair when you connect from Mitchell Cloud Repair. In addition to mapping, you can also enable accounts and set taxable status.
Note: The Profit Center List is also referred to as a Chart of Accounts for purposes of accounting.

In the navigation panel, click Settings.

Under Repair, click Accounting Settings.

On the Accounting page, click Profit Centers.

To enable an account, click the account in the Profit Centers Configuration list, and then click the Enable this Account check box. Enabled accounts appear with a blue bar next to the department name.

To enable or disable taxes for an account and department, Turn on or turn off the toggle in the Taxable column next to the account.

Do the following to map accounts in Mitchell Cloud Repair to your accounting system:
Tip: You can link multiple accounts in Mitchell Cloud Repair with a single account in your accounting software.

Click Start Mapping.

Click the check box next to the accounts you want to map. You can select multiple accounts to merge to a single account in Mitchell Cloud Repair.

Click Map Profit Centers.

In the Select Account window, select the account you want to apply as a Mitchell Cloud Repair account, and then click Map Account.
Tip: An icon appears in the Mapped column for mapped accounts to help you determine which accounts are already mapped.

Click Update to save your changes at any time.
Clear the mapping for any mapped profit center if you need to change the profit center to a different account in QuickBooks Online.
Print the Profit Center Configuration list to provide other users in the shop with a printed copy of a chart of accounts. The chart of accounts provides a reference that shows all the estimate categories transferred to in QuickBooks Online You can print out the list or save a PDF.

On the navigation pane, click Settings.

On the Settings page, click Accounting Settings.

On the Accounting Settings page, click Profit Centers.

Click Print.

In the Print Preview window, do one of the following:

In the Destination list, select See more, select a printer, and then click Print.

In the Destination list, select Save as PDF, and then click Save.
Create custom profit centers to better track revenue for unique workflows. This features gives you more flexibility to track costs and profits by moving work to categories that aren't already available from your estimating software. For example: You may want to have a custom body account outside the typical body profit center like Body: Electric.

On the navigation pane, click Settings.

Under Repair, click Accounting Settings.

On the Accounting page, click Profit Centers.

On the Accounting page, click +Add.

Select one of the following in the Item Type list:

PART: Parts
-
SERV: Services
-
Enter the item name and description in the corresponding fields.

Select INC in the Account list.
Note: INC (Income) is the only account type available at this time. A future release may include COGS (Cost Of Goods Sold).

Enter the account number and account name in the corresponding fields.

Select one of the following in the Cieca field:
Note: The Cieca (Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association) code is used to provide standard codes for profit centers. Cieca codes are used to track repair lines like labor cost. The Cieca codes map repair lines to the correct totals.

Part: Parts. This selection is only available when you select PART in the Item Type list.

Labor: Labor. This selection is only available when you select SERV in the Item Type list.

Service: Service. This selection is only available when you select SERV in the Item Type list.
