Printing
Use the print feature to print repair, parts, labor, vehicle dimensions, and OEM Service Bulletin articles and more. You can print from any vehicle article where the Print tab is shown. Print settings can be customized for various article types.
How to
- On any article, click the Print tab. The Print Options dialog box appears.
- Click one of the following options:
- Print Complete Article: Prints the complete article.
- Print Article Section: Prints selected sections of the article. Recommended for printing long articles. Select the sections you want to print.
- Click Preview. The Preview window appears.
- Review the content in the preview window and click Print. The Windows Print dialog box appears.
- Click Print.
- Click Close to close the Preview window.
The Vehicle Dimensions viewer includes a print button at the top on the Vehicle Dimensions toolbar.
Notes: TechAdvisor versions may vary. If you do not see a print button on the Vehicle Dimensions viewer, right-click on the image in the viewer to print.
- On the Vehicle Dimensions toolbar, click Print.
- On the Print Manager/Preview box, select one of the following:
- Force White Background: If a diagram has a black background, this option forces the background to print white.
- Force graphic to BW: If a diagram has colored lines, this option forces the lines to print as black lines. This option is recommended for non-color printers.
- From Print Manager, choose your Orientation options.
- Print Landscape (recommended for Vehicle Dimension graphics).
- Print Portrait (recommended for Color Wiring Diagram graphics).
- From Print Manager, click Print.
- From the Windows Print window, click Print.
Note: Printing vehicle dimensions diagrams with the interactive grid requires the addition of TechAdvisor as a Trusted Site for your Web browser. See Adding TechAdvisor as a Trusted Site for more information.
- From the Interactive Grid toolbar, click .
- From the preview window, click Print.
- From the Windows Print window, click Print.
Note: Updating the state of the grid (e.g., changing from benchmark to repaired) will print whatever is set for the active state of the grid.
Note: The damage report automatically includes the Interactive Grid and associated chassis diagram. This report is only available off a Repair Order.
Note: Printing vehicle dimensions diagrams with the damage report requires the addition of TechAdvisor as a Trusted Site for your Web browser. See Adding TechAdvisor as a Trusted Site for more information.
- From the Damage report tab, click at the top of the article.
- From the preview window, click Print.
- From the Windows Print dialog box, click Print.
Note: Updating the state of the grid on the Dimensions/Interactive View tab (e.g., changing from benchmark to repaired) prints whatever is set for the active state of the grid.
The CAD Viewer JS supports both Vehicle Dimension and Wiring Diagrams. There is no need to maintain a specific version of Java. Since there is one viewer for both features, the print feature works the same.
Notes: TechAdvisor versions may vary. If you do not see a print button on the Vehicle Dimensions viewer, right-click on the image in the viewer to print.
Note: This is the default view for Wiring Diagrams.
- Click the wiring diagram or illustration to view it at full size.
- From the wiring diagram toolbar, click the print button at the top print button at the top on the Vehicle Dimensions toolbar. The Print Manager dialog box appears.
- From the Print Manager dialog box:
- Choose your Print options:
- Force White Background: If a diagram has a black background, this option forces the background to print white.
- Force graphic to BW: If a diagram has colored lines, this option forces the lines to print as black lines. This option is recommended for non-color printers on which colored lines may print too light to see.
- Choose your Orientation options:
- Print Landscape (recommended for Vehicle Dimension graphics).
- Print Portrait (recommended for Color Wiring Diagram graphics).
- Click Print.
- From the Windows Print dialog box, click Print.
- Access Mechanical Parts and Labor. (See Viewing and Using Parts and Labor Search.)
- Select the desired article.
- From the top toolbar, click Print.
Note: Color Wiring Diagrams are an add-on subscription-based option.
- At the top of the Color Wiring diagram viewer, click to display print options for the diagram.
- Click to select from the following Print Options:
- Print Default to print the diagram only without including the vehicle and diagram information.
- Print Vehicle and Diagram Information to print the full diagram with vehicle and diagram information (e.g., 1998 Ford Ranger, Manual A/C Circuit).
- Click Print to open the Windows Print dialog box.
- On the Print dialog box, click Print.
- Enter the part information you are searching for. (See Viewing and Using Parts and Labor Search.)
- Click .
- A preview of the printed page appears on your screen. In the preview window, click to send the page to your printer.
